Maurice Prendergast may have been born in sparsely populated Newfoundland, but his paintings are filled with densely packed folks partying in milder climes. In what could reasonably be described as an embarrassment of riches, Washington DC's Phillips Collection houses three magnificent pieces. From Fantasy to Picnic to A Day At The Beach (set in Revere Beach, the famous T-Stop in Boston!), the museum is a must-do pilgrimage for the Prendergast fan.
